Dolma festival 2019

Valiko, do you like dolma? - asked the hero of Frunzik Mkrtchyan in "Mimino" film. "No," grumbled Valiko Kikabidze. "So you do not know how to cook dolma," concluded Rubik jan. Indeed, it is difficult to imagine how can one not like dolma.

Spring is a time for festivals! On May 20 in Armenia in Ararat region in the village of Khnaberd the Dolma festival will take place. It is a delicious event of the year which combines a huge number of flowers, smells and tastes.

The Dolma Festival is the main gastronomic festival in Armenia and one of the brightest events in Armenia. It takes place annually, becoming a place of pilgrimage for all lovers of this famous Armenian dish. Traditionally, guests from many countries come to this event.

For a few days the whole Khnaberd is filled with unique fragrances of basil, grape leaves and fragrant spices. In addition to traditional types of dolma, numerous chefs and cooks submit revived dishes, recipes of which were found and reproduced from ancient inscriptions, to jury’s approval.

Within the framework of the festival gourmets can enjoy themed master classes, special events and contests with appetizing prizes. Let us recall that the last year the most delicious was officially recognized dolma from the meat of mussels - this type of dolma certainly no one has tried, at least, the last 350 years. And the most unforgettable sight for visitors was 60-meter long dolma.
