The most social dish (Festival of Harisa)

Since then the victory day has been celebrated on September 13 every year. This big event is called The Festival of Harisa.

Harisa is an old Armenian traditional dish which is made from cracked wheat and meat of chicken or beef. According to history the first Harisa was made in the village of Musaler. In 1915 the villagers had to protect their village from the Turks for 40 days having only cracked wheat and meat in their reserves. At the end they defended their village. The result of this victory was not only the liberation of Musaler but also the invention of a perfect dish that has its unique place in Armenian cuisine.

Since then the victory day has been celebrated on September 13 every year. This big event is called The Festival of Harisa. In the evening the process of making Harisa starts in 100 giant boilers. The process is being accompanied by Armenian traditional songs and dances. This amazing festival ends up with the fire under the starry sky. Finally, in the morning the visitors will be invited to try a warm Harisa made last night.
